ABOUT US
MISSION & HISTORY.
Belize Conservation Group is a product of the past 30 years of living and working with the people and the natural environment of Belize, a country rich in culture, wildlife and biodiversity .

Established in 2021, Belize Conservation Group is a funding portal that promotes, funds and maintains preservation and conservation activities in Belize through education, sustainable tourism, and economic development. Our focus is to rehabilitate these habitats through the planting of naturally occurring keystone tree species and supporting the local communities through sustainable employment in eco-tourism, conservation and agro-forestry initiatives.
Belize Conservation Group has made it possible for Coastal Manatee Conservation Group (CMCG), a Belizean Registered NGO to acquire over 400 acres of private land that has been designated for conservation. The private conservation land is strategically located in central Belize adjacent to the central western and eastern boundaries of the Manatee Forest Reserve, an important part of the Central Belize Corridor.

CONSERVATION CHALLENGES.
-
Clearance of the 66' river bank vegetation for cattle farming resulting in increase of sedimentation levels and contamination of the watersheds.
-
Illegal Milpa and permanent crops in protected areas.
-
Illegal logging resulting in forest fragmentation.
-
Illegal encroachment that leads to further degradation of the watershed and the biodiversity dependent on the forest reserve.
-
Flooding during the rainy season that prevent access to conservation land and research area.
-
Limited funding.
PARTNERS.
Our partners play an important and active role in our integrated Conservation Development Initiatives. To date, Belize Conservation Group has partnered with Belizean NGOs and the private sector in an effort to protect ecosystems, wildlife and its ecological services and promote conservation development.
Funds for Belize Conservation Group are solicited through private businesses including Going Coastal Adventures (GCA) and Excalibur Adventure Park. In the near future, hospitality resort developments such as Manatee Park will also incorporate conservation contributions into residential HOA fee.
